Karen Cochran, CFRE

Senior Associate Vice President for Advancement


Karen Cochran is the Senior Associate Vice President for Advancement at the UCF Foundation, Inc.

She oversees all development activity including college- and unit-based advancement teams as well as the core advancement functions.

Prior to coming to UCF, Cochran held senior development positions at several institutions including the Duke Cancer Institute (DCI), Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering and McDaniel College, formerly known as Western Maryland College.

She has worked to shift the cultures of organizations she has served to focus on major and principal gifts, resulting in decreased costs and increased fundraising revenue. Throughout her career, Cochran has partnered with key physicians, faculty, and scientists to solicit and close record-breaking, transformational gifts.

She received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from West Virginia University and a master’s degree from Western Maryland College. A lifelong student of change management, she also completed the Hopkins Fellows in Change Management program and was selected to participate in Leadership in Action, which included development leaders from Duke, Stanford, Johns Hopkins and Columbia.

Cochran and her husband, Steve reside in Winter Park with their daughter, Gabriela and rescue dog, Mylie.
